Bojangles’ Restaurant Franchise
Bojangles’ Restaurant is a franchise that is well known for their Cajun-style chicken, buttermilk biscuits and dirty rice. The idea for Bojangles first started in 1977 in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas named the restaurant after the Jerry Jeff Walker song.
After 7 years, they already had 200 locations and in the 1990’s to 2008, it grew to 400 locations in 10 states including Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Maryland. They now even have Bojangles’ in Honduras. In 2008, they were ranked within the 25 High-Performing Franchises by The Wall Street Journal. They claim that their customers has this “crave factor” for their menu items. They even have a campaign “GottaWannaNeedaGettaHava” as a way to interpret that “crave factor” that makes their customers coming back for more. Personalities who have endorsed Bojangles’ are Carolina Panthers, Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith, Charlie Daniels, and Jeff Gordon.
The company stresses to franchisees that breakfasts are crucial to their sales as they get 40% of their whole day sales before other restaurants opens their doors in the morning. They have also put up a competition within the different locations to keep them on top. The ShowBo Award is to assess all the locations according to cleanliness, accuracy and speed of service. Another is the Master Biscuit Maker Challenge. They say that they serve more than 500,000 buttermilk biscuits from scratch in a daily basis. It’s important for them to be able to keep the quality at a high standard.
