American Asphalt Sealcoating Franchise
American Asphalt Sealcoating is a franchise for an asphalt sealcoating company. It was founded in 1987 and started franchising in 1998.
They currently have three locations in Ohio, a location in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Colorado, Indiana, and Washington.
What causes the asphalt to deteriorate?
The major cause is the sunlight and moisture which cannot be avoided. What happens is that the surface oxidizes which washes away the aggregate in the asphalt mix. When the asphalt is not protected, it loses its resiliency and causes cracks. Water would get into the cracks and hydraulic pressure makes the cracks even bigger.
How do they go through the asphalt sealcoating process?
They would first use wire brushes and blowers to clean the surface and remove all the debris and dirt. They degrease all gas, oil and grease to make sure that the sealer sticks to the surface properly. After that, they fill the cracks with rubberized crack filler that dries up fast. This prevents the water from getting in. The substance that they use does not get sticky in high heat and it exceeds the standards set by ASTM-3405 Fed. They use the rubberized Thermoseal to seal all asphalt surfaces. Thermoseal is a coal-tar based sealer. What it does is rejuvenate and penetrate the surface and brings back the oils that are needed for the pavement to be flexible and protects it from freezing, thawing, gas, oil, and road salt. They say that they exceeded several Federal specifications such as MIL C 15203C, RP355e, ASTM-D2939, and FAA Spec P625 & P626A. They also claim that they are the only company in the United States who are using this specifically designed sealer. They then repair all holes with a new hot mix of asphalt and they compact it to a proper density. The resurfacings are installed according to the standards set by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA). They use an equipment and acrylic latex paint for the stripping. It will all be done as you request and they will make sure that it is within all the ADA regulations.
