Kumon Math & Reading Centers Franchise
Kumon Math & Reading Centers is a franchise for a business providing supplemental education.
It was founded in 1958 and started franchising that same year. Kumon was founded by Toru Kumon in Japan more than 50 years ago when the founder’s son was having a hard time with second grade arithmetic. He knew that the basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are very important in higher level math. He then created worksheets that his son can practice on after school. The son answered it every day and he slowly improved his math skills and by the time his son was in sixth grade, he can already answer integral calculus problems.
They still apply the daily practice in every franchise up to this day. They are now the largest enrichment program for math and reading. They offer programs from preschool to twelfth grade, from counting to calculus. They have also started offering reading programs that teaches children about phonics up to comprehension.
